Very difficult to find

This large commemorative book on the island nation of Sri Lanka is a veritable mine of information on a wide variety of aspects of this country. Contained within its 916 pages are erudite articles on : the history of Ceylon; constitution and law; legal, judicial and administrative establishments; archaeology, geology, weather; fauna, botany, irrigation; native customs and arts; post and telegraph; railways; education; medical department; rubber, cacao, opium, tea, coconuts, arrack and toddy; the city of Colombo; time, currency, weights and measures; provincial administrations; fisheries; military and volunteers, etc. There are short notes on the leading personages and prominent business houses operating at the time of the compilation of this book, and hundreds of century-old photographs that illustrate the book throughout. This book was first published in 1907.
